  Quilts made of corn starch

It is called "corn hug quilt" because polylactic acid fiber, also called corn fiber, is mostly made of starch extracted from corn and other plants. The polylactic acid fiber can be completely degraded in the soil after one to three years, turning into water and carbon dioxide, and will not cause pollution when burned, in line with the expectations of environmental consumerism.

Â- Dehumidification brings old clothes back to life

Recycled old clothes, upstream enterprises after a series of processes made of raw materials, we can make into Lysol fiber, and then by downstream enterprises spinning and weaving to produce new clothes. This is not only "rebirth", or upgrade. Because the Lyser staple fiber has both the strength of synthetic fibers and the moisture absorption and antistatic properties of natural fibers, with a silk-like feel and luster, easy to spin, dyeing and finishing processes, comfort, breathability better.

◎ The strength of the yarn is5times stronger than the equivalent steel wire

"This is a 20-count special yarn, the weight is one-fifth of the same thickness of steel wire, but the strength is five times of it, mainly for the production of cut-resistant gloves." Ltd. in Baimahu Village, Baimahu Town, Xiajin County, on the afternoon of September 23, the enterprise in charge of Hao Yonggang took the reporter into the production workshop with the rumbling sound of machines.

The artificial blood vessel weaved out

"This artificial blood vessel is woven by us with micron-level yarn and is mainly used for replacing the human aorta. Our team has overcome key technologies such as precision weaving, fusible tight shaping and biological coating, and has entered the animal testing stage." Liu Yujie said.

Â- The more mature the development, the more innovation is needed

"The more mature the development of traditional industries, the more innovation is needed to differentiate technologies and products so that there is room for survival. From the development trend, cross-industry and cross-discipline research and development may be the direction and driving force for the development of innovation in the textile industry." Fang Kuanjun said.

Quilt made of corn starch, comparable to the strength of steel wire-like spinning thread, and even artificially woven blood vessels ...... A few days ago, the reporter went to Binzhou, Texas textile enterprises squatting interviews, found that today&39;s textile industry beyond imagination. Shandong is a large textile province, 2021 the province&39;s modern light industry textile industry above-scale enterprises totaled 6859, achieving a business income of 1.8 trillion yuan, accounting for 17.6% of the province&39;s above-scale industry. This year, Shandong will be modern light textile industry included in the "top ten industries", the traditional industry to "new" and born.

  Quilt made of corn starch

"Polylactic acid biodegradable windbreaker", "Polylactic acid environmental protection sports pants", "Polylactic acid antibacterial bedding four-piece set"... ...Browsing through shopping websites, I found that many textile and clothing brands have launched PLA series products.

PLA is an alternative material to plastic, mostly used to produce biodegradable tableware and shopping bags. How did it "break" into the textile world?

"Our research and development of corn hugging quilt, the filling added PLA fiber, very popular with consumers, has sold more than 100,000." The afternoon of September 20, Binzhou high-tech zone pleasure home textile industrial park in the home Expo Pavilion product display area, pleasure group textile design department director Wen Hongjie open packaging, the reporter touched the corn hugging corner, light, smooth, comfortable feeling.

Wen Hongjie told reporters, called "corn hugging quilt", because polylactic acid fiber is also known as corn fiber, mostly made of corn and other plant-derived starch. "PLA fiber in the soil after a year to three years can be completely degraded into water and carbon dioxide, burning does not cause pollution, in line with the expectations of the concept of environmental protection consumer. The natural weak acidic environment of PLA fiber has an inhibiting effect on the growth of bacteria, can repel dust mites, and also has moisture absorption and sweat conduction, anti-UV, and low flammability, which can meet consumer demand for product iterations and upgrades."

High energy consumption and high emissions used to be the characteristics of the traditional textile industry. Data show that carbon emissions from the textile and apparel industry account for 10% of global carbon emissions and is the second most polluting industry after oil. From nature, to nature, PLA fiber fits the new concept of "the more environmentally friendly about fashion" textile consumption.

But it is the easy degradation of PLA fibers that makes it more difficult to produce them as textiles. "PLA fibers degrade faster at high temperatures, and most of the dyeing and printing in the textile industry is a high-temperature environment; PLA fibers have a smooth surface, but it is difficult to spin into high-quality yarn. We are also constantly adjusting the process and overcoming technical difficulties so that the products can be delivered to consumers in a more perfect form. In addition to quilts, there are now shirts, blankets, curtains, bedding four-piece sets and other products, after which we will keep up with the market frontier and continue to develop new PLA fiber products." Wen Hongjie said.

In the Pleasure Home Expo Hall, a wide variety of new functional textile products with different functions, refreshing the reporter&39;s knowledge of modern textile industry.

"Sleeping at night covered with such a thin blanket, not only comfortable and warm, but also equivalent to do a far-infrared light physical therapy. It also has the effect of removing formaldehyde and odor, making the air fresher." Pleasant Home Expo Pavilion functional product display area, the interpreter Zhang Ruonan introduced.

Pleasant warm infrared team R & D engineer Lili Wu told reporters that the blanket&39;s "magic" from the blanket "core" - the warm infrared fabric woven from nano-carbon yarn.

To let the reporter feel the difference between warm infrared fabric and ordinary fabric, Lili Wu made a small experiment. She will be a black patchwork fabric in the infrared light baking 3 seconds to take off, the reporter touched with his hands, found that the warm infrared fabric part is warm, the ordinary fabric part is no change. She also put a light bulb with built-in battery on the nano carbon yarn, and the light bulb instantly lit up.

"This shows that warm infrared fabric is far better than ordinary fabric in terms of infrared absorption, and its possession of electrical conductivity makes it a huge market application space." Lili Wu said.

"The textile technology of warm infrared fabrics is constantly updated and iterated." Professor Fang Kuanjun, chief scientist of Pleasure Group and director of the provincial and ministry collaborative innovation center of ecological textile of Qingdao University, introduced that the third generation products developed now have been successfully tested and will be mass produced after further optimization.

Functional fabrics are emerging, but still can not replace the love of some consumers of "cotton". Pure cotton products can also be functional?

Xiajin County is known as "China&39;s cotton textile city", cotton textiles dominate. Texas Hengfeng Group, Xiajin Renhe Division, is the functional yarn research and development weaving base. Pearl fiber, milk fiber, submicron fiber, algae fiber, etc., are its own research and development products, to functional, differentiated direction, cotton textile products are constantly upgraded.

"Our joint research and development with Donghua University antibacterial cotton, through the high-pressure electrostatic spinning process, the antibacterial material &39;grafted&39; to the cotton fiber, not only to retain the naturalness of cotton fiber, but also to increase the function of antibacterial mite removal." Cai Jinnan, vice chairman of the Texas Hengfeng Group, general manager of the Xiajin Renhe Division, introduced the added antibacterial materials are non-toxic and non-stimulating to the human body, the production of antibacterial cotton can reach 4A level, lasting antibacterial effect, washing resistance, the inhibition rate of common bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Gluconococcus aureus reached more than 90%, and has been used in the production of domestic well-known sportswear brands as well as antibacterial underwear products.

Rebirth of old clothes by stripping

Once, consumers are concerned about the service life of clothing, the stronger and more durable through good; now, people are also increasingly concerned about its "home". Promote the recycling of waste textiles, so that the old clothes "transformed" into new clothes again into the development trend.

"Recycled old clothes, upstream enterprises after a series of processes made of raw materials, we can make Lysol fiber, and then by the downstream enterprises spinning and weaving production of new clothes. This is not only &39;rebirth&39;, or upgrade. Because Lyser fiber has both the strength of synthetic fibers and the moisture absorption and antistatic properties of natural fibers, with a silk-like feel and luster, easy to textile, dyeing and finishing processes, comfort and breathability better." Shandong Hongtai Ding new material science and technology limited company office director Wang Qin said.

Lyser fiber is commonly known as "velvet", is renewable bamboo, wood pulp meal as raw material, the production of renewable cellulose fiber. Wang Qin introduced, their company uses the most advanced solvent spinning dry process for production, the raw material will be crushed and solvent directly mixed, heated, dissolved after spinning, the processing process physical, environmental protection, energy saving, emissions close to "zero", solvent recovery rate of up to99.7%.

Not only that, the lyocell fiber clothing is more easily degraded, environmental protection is outstanding. Information shows that in the ocean, Lysol fiber can be completely degraded in 63 days; in the soil, 55 days to complete the degradation; in the freshwater environment, only 42 days to complete degradation.

"As of the end of September, all of Hongtai Ding&39;s 50,000 tons of Lyser fiber production lines have been put into operation, which can produce 140 tons of high-quality Lyser fiber per day." Wang Qin said, in order to expand the functional Lysol fiber products, they invested 40 million yuan to build a pilot production line, ginger Lysol fiber with health care functions, phase change energy storage fiber, graphene Lysol fiber, etc. are in the development. Lysol fiber will also achieve "a thousand changes".

In Pleasure Group interview, the reporter also learned that textile waste is being "regenerated" into high-value nanocellulose, and can be reapplied to textile products.

"Traditional hemostatic materials are slow to stop bleeding efficiency, poor hemostatic effect, residual in the body will cause medical accidents, nano-cellulose fibers and alginate, chitosan and other hemostatic cotton made of blood will immediately become gel, within 20 seconds to quickly stop bleeding, promote wound healing, in the body can be absorbed by their own degradation." Chen Kailing, director of chemical workshop of Pleasure Group, introduced.

Nanocellulose has the advantages of renewable, degradable, good biocompatibility, strong adsorption ability and high reactivity, which can be widely used in daily chemical, food, pharmaceutical, composite materials and other industries and fields.

The raw material of nanocellulose is inexhaustible cellulose in nature, wood pulp, cotton, crop waste straw, banana peel and other materials with fiber can be extracted, and textile waste is no exception. According to statistics, the offcuts of Pleasure Group&39;s printing and dyeing workshop, more than a ton a day, can be used to produce nanocellulose, with an output ratio of up to90%. The general offcuts are 50 RMB/ton, and the nanocellulose is 40 RMB/gram.

Due to the high extraction cost and limited market application, nanocellulose has not been industrialized. Currently, the nanocellulose team is conducting joint experiments with Donghua University to break through the cost constraints.

Yarn strength is 5 times stronger than equivalent steel wire

"This is a 20-count special yarn, the weight is one-fifth of the same thickness of steel wire, but the strength is five times of it, mainly for the production of cut-proof gloves." Ltd. in Baimahu Village, Baimahu Town, Xiajin County, on the afternoon of September 23, Hao Yonggang, the person in charge of the company, took the reporter into the production workshop with the sound of rumbling machines.

The yarn looks very ordinary, the reporter tried to tug hard, the yarn does not move, but the palm of the hand was strangled marks.

Hao Yonggang told the reporter that special functional yarns usually have to integrate a variety of fibers to meet customers' needs for fabric strength, elasticity, deformation, abrasion resistance, flame resistance, comfort, anti-static and other aspects. It is not an easy task to mix different fibers with different characteristics and spin them into yarn, which requires finding the most suitable formula, the most suitable process and the price that customers can accept.

Although there are only 30 people in Huan Sheng New Material, it has developed and produced hundreds of special functional yarns, playing a characteristic advantage in the niche area.

On September 22, the new yarn developed by Huan Sheng New Material for Zhejiang customer&39;s flame retardant and heat insulation protective clothing fabric got the pilot test report and will enter mass production soon. "The protection standard that can only be reached by 300g fabric originally, we can reach it with 250g or even 200g through the application of new materials, new equipment and new technology. Carbon emissions are less, the fabric is lighter and thinner, the cost of clothes is reduced, but the function is not reduced." Hao Yonggang said.

  Weaving out artificial blood vessels

In the afternoon of September 21, the artificial blood vessel exhibition area of Pleasure Group Life Science and Technology Museum, Liu Yujie, R&D engineer of Pleasure artificial blood vessel team, showed a section of large-diameter artificial blood vessel of 10 mm in diameter to reporters.

"This artificial blood vessel is woven by us with micron-level yarn and is mainly used for replacing human aorta. Our team has overcome the key technologies such as precision weaving, tight shaping and biological coating, and has entered the animal testing stage." Liu Yujie said.

Artificial blood vessels can be woven out? Receiving the artificial blood vessel carefully, the reporter found that this is a section of "textile sense" very strong tubular fabric, white tube wall longitudinal weave a black marker line, because of the dense spiral corrugated structure, "blood vessels" can stretch, can be knotted, can be freely bent, very elastic. The elasticity is very good.

First contact with artificial blood vessels, Liu Yujie also feel amazing, "This is really a textile can do?" Artificial blood vessels need to have good mechanical properties, compliance and biocompatibility, not easy to deformation, but also to have a similar self-healing ability with natural blood vessels, to maintain long-term stability in the body. Only the "porous structure, but also can not bleed", has exceeded Liu Yujie&39;s knowledge of textiles.

At the beginning of 2020, Pleasure Group&39;s artificial blood vessel project was officially launched, and Professor Kuanjun Fang led his team to embark on the R&D journey.

Finding textile materials was like looking for a needle in a haystack, and the team wanted to try every kind of material and then arrange and combine them, which was a particularly heavy workload. Weaving was even more difficult. The artificial blood vessels are woven in three dimensions, but the cloth woven by ordinary looms is flat, so the team kept trying to modify the loom to make it weave into a tube, weave into a spiral, and find the most suitable elastic interval. After the weaving problem was overcome, the team studied the coating, to prevent leakage, to prevent the formation of blood clots in the short term, and to promote the formation of endothelial cells in the walls of blood vessels.

"Our team, all of whom are studying textiles and printing and dyeing, are all in contact with artificial blood vessels for the first time, and can only learn little by little." Liu Yujie said.

After more than two years of research and development, the artificial blood vessel finally completed pre-clinical biosafety performance testing and entered the large animal experiment stage.

Professor Kuanjun Fang introduced that the artificial blood vessel developed by the team chose micron-level yarn weaving to construct a pore size suitable for endothelial cell adhesion, which is conducive to the climbing growth of endothelial cells; the microporosity and porosity of the surface increase the binding force between endothelial cells and the material to achieve long-term anti-thrombotic effect; the surface material is biologically coated, and the coating material is modified to be negatively charged, and the electrostatic repulsive force provides a good anti-coagulation effect; through a series of experiments such as hemolysis experiment and platelet adhesion experiment, the artificial blood vessel is proved to have good blood compatibility.

In the R&D laboratory, Liu Yujie showed the video taken during the first large animal experimental surgery in March this year to the reporter. "After the artificial blood vessel was sutured to the aorta of the heart, the doctor deliberately punctured the wall of the tube with a needle and a column of blood spurted out, and the blood flow automatically stopped after 2 seconds and the wall recovered. The arterial blood pressure is at least 120 mmHg, and the punctured fabric can still recover automatically under such circumstances, I was so excited that I shed tears."

Shandong Xinyue Health Technology Co., Ltd. deputy general manager Li Fujie said that artificial blood vessels belong to the third category of medical devices, approved for marketing still need to go through a series of experiments, approval.

"Health textile is an emerging industry with great development potential in the field of health care products, and also provides a new concept and new space for the innovative development of the textile industry. Supported by the main industry of home textiles, upgraded from Pleasure Home Textiles to Xingyue Health, the big health segment has established a complete ecological industry chain, in addition to artificial blood vessels, artificial tendons, artificial skin and other products are also under development." Li Fujie said.

The more mature the development, the more innovation is needed

Disruptive innovation empowers industrial butterfly transformation. Increase investment in R&D, build labs, innovation centers, R&D centers and other R&D institutions and innovation platforms, and carry out cooperation between industry, academia and research ...... In the interview, the reporter felt the importance textile enterprises attach to scientific and technological innovation. For example, in the past three years, the R&D investment of Pleasure Group and Xiajin Renhe has exceeded 4% of sales revenue. The industrialization of scientific research results has brought significant economic benefits to the enterprises and enhanced their brand value and market competitiveness.

Textile enterprises&39; scientific and technological innovation power is steadily increasing, but some enterprises&39; R&D is still only in accordance with the needs of downstream customers to conduct experiments, or even samples provided by customers, and enterprises arrange production after getting customers' approval for proofing, which is not ahead of time and does not involve new materials, new equipment and new processes, and the added value of products is not high.

"Some R & D project cycle is long, the investment is large, R & D results are innovative no market is also a waste, a bunch of patents hanging on the wall without any meaning. For enterprises, linkage with upstream and downstream enterprises for product development, is the safest and most effective." A textile enterprise responsible person told reporters.

Another textile enterprise management personnel said, "R & D needs professional and technical personnel, want to find professional staff dedicated to research in the enterprise is not easy, it is not just to improve the treatment can solve the problem."

"The core of talent team building is the collaborative innovation of industry, academia and research. Only rely on the power of universities and research institutes, enterprises do not have their own R & D team, it is equivalent to a technology transfer to the enterprise, is a 'one-time&39; innovation. The enterprise must exercise the team around technical research, so as to achieve technical breakthroughs at the same time, but also to achieve the growth of the training of the talent team." Fang Kuanjun said.

Since 2013 as the chief scientist of Pleasure Group, Fang Kuanjun has been going back and forth between Qingdao and Binzhou almost every week. To his delight, many young researchers in the R&D team have become the main person in charge of various departments of Pleasure Group, continuing to carry out scientific and technological innovation in key positions and driving the whole staff to innovate.

"Traditional industries that are mature in development need more innovation to differentiate technology and products so that they can have room for survival. From the development trend, cross-industry and cross-field research and development may be the direction and driving force for the development of innovation in the textile industry." Fang Kuanjun said.
